Tire Industry Association announces new board appointments

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) board has elected Jim Pangle of Fountain Tire as board secretary and reelected Mike Wolfe of Southeastern Wholesale Tire to a third term as board treasurer, effective Nov. 2, 2020.

“The election of Jim Pangle as TIA secretary and re-election of Mike Wolfe as treasurer ensures a lot of association leadership experience on the Executive Committee in these unique times,” said Roy Littlefield, TIA CEO. “Jim has been a long-time TIA board member and brings a unique background to the position of secretary as a tire dealer from Canada. Mike, meanwhile, has been a solid steward of TIA’s finances for many years. Together their experience and understanding of the tire industry will greatly benefit TIA as the association celebrates its 100-year history this year and prepares for the future.”

TIA Issues Statement on ‘Invest in America Act’

On June 3, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released draft text of a five-year, $494 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill entitled the “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America Act” or the “INVEST in America Act.”

The bill includes $411 billion in contract authority from the Highway Trust Fund for highway, transit, safety and research programs. $319 billion is the portion allocated for the Federal-aid highway program under the Federal Highway Administration.

TIA opens registration for 2nd week of free training webinars


The Tire Industry Association has opened registrations for the second week of Automotive Tire Service (ATS) webinars focusing on the topic of Demounting, Mounting and Inflation.

TIA Board Nomination Deadline Extended to May 22

BOWIE, Md. – The deadline for submitting nominations for four positions on the 2020-2021 Tire Industry Association (TIA) board of directors has been extended to Friday, May 22, 2020, at 5 p.m. EDT.

Newly elected board members will serve three-year terms and may be re-elected to two additional three-year terms. New board members will be installed during the TIA Annual Membership Meeting, Nov. 2, 2020, in Las Vegas, prior to the start of the Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show.

TIA Board of Directors 2020 -2021 Nomination Form

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is now accepting nominations for board service. Any member of TIA or official representative of an industry association may recommend candidates to the Nominating Committee. Nominations must be received at the TIA office no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday May 4, 2020 , for consideration.

TIA creates coronavirus resources page on website


BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association has added a coronavirus (COVID-19) resources page to its websitetireindustry.org.

The COVID-19 page is for use by TIA members and others as they navigate the impact of the pandemic, TIA said.

“TIA created this resources page in response to the high volume of questions we have been getting from members concerned about how new federal and state regulations impact them,” TIA CEO Roy Littlefield said.

The just-passed Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 has generated numerous calls to the Tire Industry Association (TIA) from worried members concerned about how this legislation might impact them.
