LAS VEGAS — The Tire Industry Association and Michelin North America Inc. have selected the daughters of three employees of TIA-affiliated companies to receive college scholarships funded by Michelin.
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) honored its Hall of Fame recipients and Ed Wagner Leadership Award Winner at the Tire Industry Honors Event Nov. 4 at Caesar’s Palace.
Brent Hesje, CEO of Fountain Tire, and Frank Holeman, director of the Tire Industry Safety Council, were inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame. Edward A. Burleson, Sr., owner and president of Central Marketing, was recognized with the Ed Wagner Leadership Award.

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has elected five members to its board of directors. Four will serve three-year terms and the fifth will serve a one-year term filling the vacancy created when Mason Hess, of Purcell Tire & Rubber Co., was elected secretary of the board earlier this year.

The recipients of the 2019 Hall of Fame Award are:
- Brent Hesje, CEO of Fountain Tire, Edmonton, Canada
- The late Frank Holeman, Director of the Tire Industry Safety Council, from 1969-1987

BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has scheduled eight educational sessions for the 2019 Global Tire Expo (GTE) – Powered by TIA at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show Nov. 5-8 in Las Vegas, including one that will look at the hybrid and electric vehicle market and opportunities for independent tire dealers and repair shops.
BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has named David Zielasko, former Tire Business editorial director and publisher, as vice president of marketing and communications.
In his new role, Zielasko will be responsible for coordinating the association’s communications activities to its membership and to the tire industry community as well as promoting TIA’s many offerings centering around tire safety and political lobbying.
