TIA opens registration for Membership/Honors events


Tire Industry Association’s (TIA) opens registration for the online Annual Membership Meeting and 2020 Tire Industry Honors program. Attendees can register at https://www.tireindustry.org/global-tire-expo-sema-show.

Both events are being held virtually this year using the Zoom platform, since the live Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show in Las Vegas will not take place this November.

TIA going online for Annual Meeting and SEMA Show events


The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is going online with its Annual Membership Meeting, Tire Industry Honors and educational sessions that originally were planned for this fall’s Global Tire Expo (GTE)/SEMA Show.

TIA resets centennial events for 2021

BOWIE, Md. — Reacting to the cancellation of the 2020 SEMA Show, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) is moving its centennial celebrations — originally scheduled for the week of Nov. 2 in Las Vegas — to November 2021 to coincide with the 2021 SEMA Show.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association disclosed Aug. 5 its decision to cancel the 2020 SEMA Show due to the uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic presents in trying to stage a major convention and trade show.

Tire Industry Association announces new board appointments

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) board has elected Jim Pangle of Fountain Tire as board secretary and reelected Mike Wolfe of Southeastern Wholesale Tire to a third term as board treasurer, effective Nov. 2, 2020.

“The election of Jim Pangle as TIA secretary and re-election of Mike Wolfe as treasurer ensures a lot of association leadership experience on the Executive Committee in these unique times,” said Roy Littlefield, TIA CEO. “Jim has been a long-time TIA board member and brings a unique background to the position of secretary as a tire dealer from Canada. Mike, meanwhile, has been a solid steward of TIA’s finances for many years. Together their experience and understanding of the tire industry will greatly benefit TIA as the association celebrates its 100-year history this year and prepares for the future.”

TIA Issues Statement on ‘Invest in America Act’

On June 3, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released draft text of a five-year, $494 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill entitled the “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America Act” or the “INVEST in America Act.”

The bill includes $411 billion in contract authority from the Highway Trust Fund for highway, transit, safety and research programs. $319 billion is the portion allocated for the Federal-aid highway program under the Federal Highway Administration.

TIA opens registration for 2nd week of free training webinars


The Tire Industry Association has opened registrations for the second week of Automotive Tire Service (ATS) webinars focusing on the topic of Demounting, Mounting and Inflation.

TIA Board Nomination Deadline Extended to May 22

BOWIE, Md. – The deadline for submitting nominations for four positions on the 2020-2021 Tire Industry Association (TIA) board of directors has been extended to Friday, May 22, 2020, at 5 p.m. EDT.

Newly elected board members will serve three-year terms and may be re-elected to two additional three-year terms. New board members will be installed during the TIA Annual Membership Meeting, Nov. 2, 2020, in Las Vegas, prior to the start of the Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show.
