BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association has announced locations and dates for its 2019 Commercial Tire Service Instructor 400 training tour.
It certainly didn’t have the panache of 2017, when China’s Triangle Group Co. Ltd. announced it was building a plant in the U.S. and Nokian Tyres P.L.C. broke ground on its first North American plant, but 2018 did have its moments for tire manufacturers revealing plans regarding new plants.
The biggest reveal came in Las Vegas on the evening of Oct. 29, when Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Poddar — as part of his acceptance speech for being named to the Tire Industry Association Hall of Fame — announced his company was making plans to build its first North American plant.
(Bowie, MD – 1/7/2019) – The Tire Industry Association (TIA), a leader in tire safety, has released the dates for the 2019 Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Tour. The 4-day, hands-on training classes will be hosted across the United States with the goal of educating tire technicians on the proper safety procedures and guidelines for servicing passenger and light truck tire and wheel assemblies. Most of the classes will be held at local community and technical colleges.
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is developing an Earthmover Tire and Wheel Weight Chart that will be released in the first quarter of 2019.
The chart lists the average physical weight for more than 150 earthmover and industrial forklift tires as well as the average weight of more than 150 rim and wheel assemblies, including independent components.
Members of the tire industry gathered at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel Monday night to recognize the industry’s top tire dealers and honor the Tire Industry Association (TIA) 2018 Hall of Fame honorees and Ed Wagner Leadership Award recipients.
Arvind Poddar, chairman and managing director of Balkrishna Industries, Ltd. (BKT), and Bob Majewski, president of Sumerel Tire Service, Inc. were inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame.
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) passed a resolution at its annual meeting Monday, promising to work with the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on tire registration and recall procedures.
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced the winners from the 2018 Board of Directors election. Each new member selected will serve on the board for a three-year term, TIA says.
Members will take office on Monday, October 29 at TIA’s Board of Director’s meeting at Bally’s Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
