The recipients of the 2019 Hall of Fame Award are:

  • Brent Hesje, CEO of Fountain Tire, Edmonton, Canada
  • The late Frank Holeman, Director of the Tire Industry Safety Council, from 1969-1987

Zielasko joins TIA in communications/marketing role

BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has named David Zielasko, former Tire Business editorial director and publisher, as vice president of marketing and communications.

In his new role, Zielasko will be responsible for coordinating the association’s communications activities to its membership and to the tire industry community as well as promoting TIA’s many offerings centering around tire safety and political lobbying.

TIA Board Elects Purcell Tire’s Mason Hess 2019-2020 Secretary

(Bowie, MD) – The Tire Industry Association (TIA), the leader in tire safety and education, has elected Mason Hess of Purcell Tire & Rubber Co., as board secretary, effective Nov. 4, 2019.

After serving as secretary in 2019-2020 and vice president in 2020-2021, Hess will assume the TIA presidency in Nov. 2021.

OTR Tire Manufacturers Share Plans for 2019, Trends in OTR Market

Several manufacturers of off-the-road tires shared their company’s plans for 2019 as well as where they see the OTR market headed at the Tire Industry Association’s 2019 OTR Conference at the Saddlebrook Resort outside Tampa, Florida.

Representatives from OTR tire companies took part in a Tire Manufacturers’ Panel, where they teased new products coming from their companies in 2019 and shared what new initiatives their companies had for the upcoming year.

YEAR IN REVIEW: BKT expansion heads plant activity

It certainly didn’t have the panache of 2017, when China’s Triangle Group Co. Ltd. announced it was building a plant in the U.S. and Nokian Tyres P.L.C. broke ground on its first North American plant, but 2018 did have its moments for tire manufacturers revealing plans regarding new plants.

The biggest reveal came in Las Vegas on the evening of Oct. 29, when Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Poddar — as part of his acceptance speech for being named to the Tire Industry Association Hall of Fame — announced his company was making plans to build its first North American plant.

TIA Releases the Dates for the 2019 Certified ATS Training Tour Schedule

(Bowie, MD – 1/7/2019) – The Tire Industry Association (TIA), a leader in tire safety, has released the dates for the 2019 Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Tour. The 4-day, hands-on training classes will be hosted across the United States with the goal of educating tire technicians on the proper safety procedures and guidelines for servicing passenger and light truck tire and wheel assemblies. Most of the classes will be held at local community and technical colleges.
