Yokohama ‘bidding for’ ex-Pirelli unit Prometeon

London – Yokohama Rubber Co. (YRC) is in talks over the acquisition of Prometeon Tire Group (PTG), two separate sources have informed ERJ.

The contacts confirmed Italian media reports about a YRC move for the former Pirelli industrial tires unit – though both preferred not to be identified.

In a written statement to ERJ, a source close to PTG minority shareholder Aeolus Tyres said negotiations were ongoing on the subject – without elaborating further.

Pirelli consolidating operations in Brazil

MILAN — Pirelli C. & S.p.A. is planning to consolidate its operations in Brazil, with one possible plant closure in the offing and the commitment of $136 million in investments over the coming two years.

The “reorganization of production structure” would involve the transfer of motorcycle tire production to Pirelli’s plant in in Campinas, Sao Paulo — which currently manufactures car tires only — from its plant in Gravataí, Rio Grande do Sul, thus creating an industrial hub for car, moto and motorsport tires to serve the Latin American markets.

Prometeon amends & extends senior financing

Prometeon Tyre Group has signed an agreement for the amendment, restatement and extension of its 600 million euro senior financing, underwritten in March 2017, originally with a three-year duration. The new agreement allows the extension of the final maturity to March 2021 (with the possibility to further extend it to March 2022 at Prometeon’s discretion) at conditions in line with the current market.

Prometeon adds Tier 3 TBR brand; Tier 2 brand to follow

MILAN, Italy — Prometeon Tyre Group S.r.l., the former Pirelli industrial tire business, has launched a Tier 3 associate truck/bus tire brand as part of the company’s move to a multi-brand approach.

Developed with a special focus on safety, the “Anteo” brand will complement Pirelli as Prometeon’s premium brand, the company said, while an as-yet-unnamed Tier 2 brand is being developed as well for launch later in 2019.

Prometeon introduces Anteo truck brand

A new brand of truck tyres from the company behind the Pirelli commercial range is being launched in Milan this afternoon. At launch the new Anteo line-up will consist of six products.- Pro T, Pro D and Pro T steer, drive and trailer tyres for on-road use, as well as Mover M, Mover S and Mover D for on/off-road applications.

Prometeon Launches New H89 Truck Series

Prometeon Tyre Group’s U.S. subsidiary, formerly known as Pirelli Industrial, launched its new H89 Series at this year`s American Trucking Association Technology & Maintenance Council meeting in Atlanta, Georgia this week.

The Pirelli-branded H89 tire series, which will be progressively available during this year, includes tires for steer, drive and trailer axle and with good mileage, traction and handling in all conditions, Prometeon said.

Italians dominate TTE 2018 awards

Hanover, Germany – Pirelli C & SpA, Versalis SA and start-up firm MegaRide were among the five winners of the Tire Technology International Awards 2018.

In a ceremony on 21 Feb, on the sidelines of Tire Technology Expo in Hanover, Pirelli was announced as the tire manufacturer of the year for its strategic focus on high-value premium products.
