Michelin launches high-performance tire for piston aircraft

Greenville, South Carolina – Michelin North America, Inc. is launching a high-performance bias tire designed for propeller-driven aircraft.

The Michelin ‘Pilot’ tire, which is currently available in two sizes in the US and Canada, is designed to provide extra-long tire life with long tread life and all-weather protection.

Available immediately, the Michelin X Mine D2 Pro and the XSM D2+ Pro Line of tires is designed with three key benefits: increased load capacity, improved tire life and improved aggression resistance.

Alliance Tire Americas Names Two New VPs

Alliance Tire Americas, Inc. (ATA) announced today that Allen Lyons has been appointed to the position of Vice President of Aftermarket Sales, West and Canada, and that Seth Walters was promoted to Vice President of Aftermarket Sales, East.

Lyons joined Alliance after more than a decade at Cummins, Inc., where he rose through the ranks to Director of Sales and Marketing — Fuel Systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University.

Maitech Tire’s new MT111 loader, dumper tyre the star of The Tire Cologne stand

U.S. Commerce Dept. Lowers Anti-Dumping Tariffs on Chinese PLT Tires

The U.S. Department of Commerce has lowered anti-dumping duties on select passenger and light truck tires imported from Chinese companies.

After a review of the 2015 rates, the commerce department found that Giti Tire Global Trading Pte. Ltd. and its entities as well as Qingdao Sentury Tire sold passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. at prices below their normal value from Jan. 27, 2015 to Jan. 31, 2016.

Yokohama plan targets off-road and premium tire sectors

Tokyo – Yokohama Rubber Co. has unveiled a new medium-term management plan dubbed “grand design 2020”, the Japanese tire and rubber manufacturer announced 19 Feb.

The successor to “grand design 100” targets annual sales of growth of 8.3%, to ¥700 billion (€756 million), and annual operating income increase of 29.1%, to ¥70 billion by 2020.

Yokohama said it would “redefine” its core strengths under GD2020 and address “focused strategic priorities in each sector of operations.”
