Magna Tyres opens new U.S. office

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Magna Tyres Group, based in the Netherlands, has expanded into the U.S. with the opening of a sales office in Fort Lauderdale.

Waalwijk, Netherlands-based Magna, which specializes in off-the-road (OTR), industrial and truck tires, hired industry veteran Robert Smith — most recently Midwest sales representative for Maxam Tire North America  — to manage the Florida office.

Toyo Tires develops Open Country SxS for side-by-side vehicles

Toyo Tire USA Corp has developed the Open Country SxS for side-by-side vehicles. It features traits of the Open Country M/T-R racing tire, but has been designed in a smaller package. The tire’s 32in diameter provides high ground clearance for tackling obstacles. Alliance Tire introduces combine tire with extra load capacity

WAKEFIELD, Mass.—Alliance Tire Group has introduced the Alliance Agriflex+ 372 VF CFO. The combine and grain cart tire rated is to carry 186 percent of the load of a comparably sized standard radial tire when operating at harvest speeds of under 10 mph.

Nokian heavy-tire expansion project at headquarters plant back on track

NOKIA, Finland—Nokian Tyres P.L.C. reports an $82 million, 3-year expansion of commercial tire production at its headquarters plant in Nokia is back on track after falling behind schedule, company officials said recently.

The project, designed to boost annual capacity for heavy-duty tires by 50% to 32,000 metric tons by 2021, also includes the construction of a dedicated research and development center on site.
