RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.—Giti Tire USA is planning to return to Formula Drift next year with its GT Radial brand after a three-year hiatus.
GT Radial will return to Formula Drift, North America’s professional drifting competition, in 2020 after competing from 2014-2016.
“There’s a lot of great things happening at GT Radial, a tire brand that has been rolling on American roads for 25 years now,” said Thomas Okihisa, director of marketing for Giti Tire USA.
Giti Tire’s GT Radial Ride and Drive Day at Horiba Mira, held in partnership with exclusive brand distributor passenger for car, SUV/4×4 and light truck tyres, Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS), was attended by a capacity group of 40 new and existing customers.
RICHBURG, S.C. — As the new kid in the North American manufacturing neighborhood, Giti Tire Manufacturing (USA) Ltd. has ambitious plans to make its mark in the regional tire market.
Since the groundbreaking four years ago for its 1.7-million-sq.-ft. facility in Richburg, the subsidiary of Singapore-headquartered Giti Tire Group began producing tires in late 2017, hired more than 700 employees and has been ramping up production for new lines of tires.
“This facility is half of what we want,” said Hank Eisenga, vice president of manufacturing. “So our intent is to take and double this facility as quickly as we can.”
Giti Tire invited members of the media along with North American retailers and distributors to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the launch of the new GT Radial MAXTOUR LX.
Fittingly, the event kicked off at Giti Tire’s first-ever North-American production facility located in Richburg, South Carolina, which began operations in 2017. Both the production facility and the Giti Tire North American product lineup will expand as the brand continues to gain notoriety.
Giti Tire has announced the release of GT Radial Maxtour LX grand touring tire in North America.
With this release, the company aims at providing CUV and passenger car owners with a quiet, smooth ride, combined with better traction and handling. Most of the sizes offered will be produced at Giti’s manufacturing plant in Chester County, SC.

Giti Tire will use CV Show 2017 to unveil the first phase of its Giti branded truck and bus portfolio, with no less than 20 patterns making their European debut.
The display will feature new product lines, conversions of existing patterns from GT Radial, many of which have been improved through increased load index label results or 3PMSF winter accreditation, and other tyres from around the world which have been recognised as strategically important and certified for use in the EU.
As before the Giti-branded stand, which can be found at 4G20, will be split into six core areas, namely combi-road, long haul, regional, mixed service, urban and winter. Further specific product details will be released up-to and during the show itself.
