Cooper Tire & Rubber Company is to form a joint venture with Sailun Vietnam Co, Ltd to build a 2 million capacity truck and bus radial manufacturing plant. Subject to closing and government approvals, the facility will be located near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, at the site of Sailun Vietnam’s existing operations, which early in 2018 signed an offtake agreement to produce Roadmaster, Dean and Starfire brand tyres for Cooper.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Reports 3rd Quarter 2018 Results

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has reported third quarter 2018 net income of $54 million, or diluted earnings per share of $1.07, compared with $62 million, or $1.18 per share, for the same period last year.

“Unit volume in the U.S. improved in the third quarter and outpaced the USTMA. We ended the quarter on an encouraging note, with U.S. unit volume that outperformed both the USTMA and total industry in the month of September,” said Brad Hughes, president and CEO.

Cooper Tire second quarter income down 67%

Cooper suffers double-digit earnings decline

Findlay, Ohio – Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. suffered double-digit drops in operating and net income for the quarter ended 31 March 31, reflecting lower unit volume and costs associated with reduced manufacturing, the company said.

Operating income dropped 54.4% to $26.5 million on 6.5-percent lower sales of $601.5 million, cutting the operating margin nearly five%age points to 4.4%. Net income fell 72.9% to $8.29 million.
