Bridgestone switching Indian operation to EMEA region

Brussels – Bridgestone Corp. is reorganising its strategic business units (SBUs) with the separation of India from the Asia-Pacific region as of 1 Jan 2020, the Japanese tire & rubber company announced 8 Nov.

Under the rejig, the Bridgestone India operation will join the company’s EMEA business unit, which is being renamed Bridgestone Europe, Russia, Middle East, India and Africa (BSEMIA).

Cooper Tire announce plans to own 100% of Mexico tire facility


Cooper Tire announced it plans to increase ownership in its Mexico joint venture tire manufacturing facility, Corporación de Occidente S.A. de C.V. (COOCSA), from 58 percent to 100 percent.

Trabajadores Democraticos de Occidente S.C. de R.L. de C.V. (TRADOC), which owns 42 percent of the joint venture, have entered into a definitive agreement under which Cooper Tire will purchase TRADOC’s stake in COOCSA.

TIA Honors HOF, Leadership Award Recipient at Industry Honors Ceremony


The Tire Industry Association (TIA) honored its Hall of Fame recipients and Ed Wagner Leadership Award Winner at the Tire Industry Honors Event Nov. 4 at Caesar’s Palace.

Brent Hesje, CEO of Fountain Tire, and Frank Holeman, director of the Tire Industry Safety Council, were inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame. Edward A. Burleson, Sr., owner and president of Central Marketing, was recognized with the Ed Wagner Leadership Award.

Pirelli cuts guidance, delays business plan in worsening scenario

Adding to a string of auto parts suppliers hit by prolonged industry weakness, Pirelli said it forecast a full-year margin on its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) between 17% and 17.5% versus an already lowered previous target of 18-19%.

Pirelli, which makes tyres for Formula One racing teams and premium automakers such as BMW and Audi, said in a statement it cut its guidance after facing greater fixed costs as it lowered production to reduce inventories.
