Michelin Previews Its ‘Most Advanced’ Passenger Tire

Michelin North America Inc. recently provided a sneak preview of what Alexis Garcin, the company’s chairman and president, calls “the most versatile and advanced passenger tire that Michelin has developed in more than two decades.”

The Michelin CrossClimate 2 made its debut during a July 22 virtual launch event for Michelin tire dealers.

The tire, which will boast nearly 80% consumer vehicle market coverage when its lineup is complete, “is ideal” for North American drivers, Garcin said during the event. He added that the CrossClimate 2 “significantly raises the bar for safety.”

Hankook introduces new Laufenn truck and bus tyres for UK market

Hankook has introduced a new line of Laufenn brand commercial vehicle tyres in the UK. With Laufenn the Korean tyre manufacturer targets the second tier of the market. Hankook initially launches Laufenn in the UK with nine patterns covering more than 85 per cent of tyres in the market for goods and people transportation, as well as construction truck tyres. Hankook adds that most sizes offer the three peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) marking for use in winter conditions.

Cosmo Tires has released the Cosmo Mud Kicker, with a patented shoulder and bead area design and multi-faceted shoulder claws ranging in angles from 10 to 90 degrees which provide extra grip surface and quicker self-cleaning.

Cosmo Tires says the Cosmo Mud Kicker is the first tire in the market to be “mud rated.”

Continental burns cash as Q2 sales slump nearly 40%

BERLIN — Continental suffered a nearly 40 percent year-on-year decline in group sales during the second quarter, causing the German supplier to burn cash and forcing it to refrain from providing an outlook for the year. Consolidated group sales declined by 39.8 percent to 6.62 billion euros ($7.6 billion), the company said Monday as it reported some results early. Operating margin was minus 9.6 percent and reported free cash flow was a negative 1.78 billion euros ($2 billion.)

Marking our 15th anniversary, we are sharing, free-of-charge, our scientific research on tire and road wear particles (TRWP), eliminating the fees often required to review scientific papers.

Peer-reviewed studies from more than a decade of research into TRWP – the tiny debris produced by necessary friction between tires and road surface – are now available free-of-charge online. Hankook Tire Data Finds Car Maintenance Being Neglected

As many Americans find themselves driving less due to the COVID-19 pandemic, research from Hankook Tire reveals that they are also neglecting vehicle maintenance and systems checks.

Nearly half (48%) of Americans have delayed or canceled a vehicle maintenance appointment during the pandemic, according to the latest Hankook Tire Gauge Index. And, even more did not perform routine maintenance such as topping off fluids (73%) or checking tire pressures regularly (70%).
