TIA Developing New OTR Tire and Wheel Weight Chart


The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is developing an Earthmover Tire and Wheel Weight Chart that will be released in the first quarter of 2019.

The chart lists the average physical weight for more than 150 earthmover and industrial forklift tires as well as the average weight of more than 150 rim and wheel assemblies, including independent components.

China says direct trade talks with U.S. in January, pledges more opening | Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) – China and the United States have made plans for face-to-face consultations over trade in January, the Chinese commerce ministry said on Thursday, as the world’s two biggest economies advanced efforts to resolve a months-long trade war. Consultations through “intensive” telephone calls will continue in the meantime, Gao Feng, spokesman at the commerce ministry, told reporters, adding that talks have been steadily moving forward despite the Christmas break in the United States.

Marangoni Expanding Tennessee Manufacturing Plant

Marangoni Tread North America will expand its manufacturing plant in Tennessee, President and CEO Bill Sweatman announced.

“With unit sales up this year, production had to be increased right away,” Sweatman said. “Independent retreaders’ business remains strong and we expect demand to continue to increase as we move into 2019. We will be adding additional capacity to manufacture the XP Extreme Performance wide-base Ringtread here in the U.S.”

World NR supply up 5.5% during Jan-Oct, 2018: ANRPC

The Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics report by the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) in October 2018 has stated that the world production of natural rubber (NR) from January 2018 to October 2018 amounted to 11.468 million tonnes, an increase of 5.5% from the same period in a year earlier. The livelihood of rubber farmers was affected by the prevailing low rubber prices and unfavourable climate condition in member countries.

Michelin Pilot Sport’s wet and dry success


Michelin’s Pilot Sport tire survived a tough test at this year’s Saudia Ad Diriyah Formula E race. The schedule effectively had to be adjusted by race control after unexpected heavy showers caused big puddles to form, making the track unsafe.

The morning’s first free practice session was canceled and the second was postponed until 10:15am to give marshals time to sweep aside excess standing water. Two qualifying sessions then followed at 11:25am.
