Continental in talks to buy Israel’s Argus Cyber Security, reports say


TEL AVIV/BERLIN — Continental is in advanced talks to buy Israel’s Argus Cyber Security, whose technology guards connected cars from hacking, for about $400 million, Israeli media reported. Cybersecurity experts have criticized the automotive industry for failing to do more to secure internal communications of vehicles with network-connected features.

Goodyear Reports 3rd Quarter Results


The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has reported results for the third quarter and first nine months of 2017.

“During the third quarter, we saw a continuation of the challenging industry conditions we experienced in the second quarter including lower consumer replacement volumes, production cuts by automakers and an increase of more than 30 percent in our raw material input costs,” said Richard Kramer, chairman, CEO and president.

Bridgestone starts distribution in Iran


Tehran – Japanese tire-maker Bridgestone Corp. has started distribution of its products in Iran, through Arian Tire Pouya, an official representative of the Bridgestone brand.

In a statement provided to ERJ, the company said it intended to market passenger and commercial tires in Iran through Arian Tire’s network.

Goodyear expecting contract extension with NASCAR for 2018


tests for two NASCAR races scheduled for next season, including the playoff race at Charlotte, but it has yet to announce a contract extension for 2018. 

But Stu Grant, Goodyear’s general manager of worldwide racing said a new contract with NASCAR is imminent.  

“We have not finalized the agreement yet; that’s true,” Grant said Sunday before the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. “We’re getting very close to a contract extension. But we are testing for 2018, we’re getting ready to build tires for the Daytona 500. We’re operating like we’re going to be here in 2018.”

Giti’s U.S. plant begins production in S.C.
